Unfortunately the Blue Anchor Inn in East Aberthaw has caught fire again last weekend.
This is a great local pub with a huge amount of character. The building dates from 1380. It has caught fire a number of times in its history – a thatched roof and log fires don’t mix very well 🙂

Luckily this fire was not that bad and the pub has remained open.
The last major fire was in 2004 when the pub had to be shut for a number of months for refurbishment. My photo shows the pub then surrounded by scaffolding.
The pub still retains its original feel and is well worth a visit for real ales and great food.
